Counter-Modern Slavery Statement
We take allegations of modern slavery in all its forms extremely seriously and will not tolerate human rights abuses against anyone working for our company, or individuals or groups in any way associated with our business.
This statement is published in line with the 2023 Swiss Ordinance on Due Diligence and Transparency in relation to Minerals and Metals from Conflict-Affected Areas and Child Labour (the Ordinance), and section 54(1) of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. It constitutes our counter slavery and anti-human-trafficking statement for the forthcoming year.
Our organisation structure
Oceyon AG is a limited liability partnership based in Zug, Switzerland, CHE.182.189.341. We are a remote working tech and compliance company.
We employ 3 staff and also work with contractors through employment agencies. Through our work we also engage with numerous suppliers of goods and services. We consider the risk of Modern Slavery and child labour occurring within our business to be low, so our focus is to ensure that there are policies and procedures in place for our suppliers.
Our commitment to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015
Oceyon is committed to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the abolition of modern slavery and human trafficking. We acknowledge the role that we can play to help to bring this about.
We are an equal opportunities employer, fully committed to creating and ensuring an inclusive and respectful working environment for all our staff.
We want all our staff to feel confident that they can report concerns without any risk to themselves.
Our recruitment and people management processes are designed to ensure that all prospective employees are legally entitled to work and to safeguard employees from any abuse or coercion.
We recognise that, as a purchaser of goods and services, we have the opportunity to influence good practices in the employment of people by other organisations.
We do not enter into business with any organisation, in Switzerland, the UK or elsewhere, which knowingly support or are found to be involved in slavery, child labour, servitude and forced or compulsory labour.
Our Policies
During the next 12 months the following policies will be introduced to alert all our staff explicitly to modern slavery issues, the commitment of Oceyon AG to combat modern slavery and mechanisms through which modern slavery issues can be addressed, if identified, in our organisation:
- Dignity at Work Policy
- Ethical Reporting Policy
Our Ethical Reporting Policy will enable any member of staff to report any known or suspected breach of our ethical standards including slavery, human trafficking, forced or child labour, as well as wider human rights-related issues. It will guarantee that any issue can be raised in confidence and refer to examples of forced, compulsory or trafficked labour as instances which we expect to be reported.
Supplier Due Diligence
We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or partner's organisation / contracting supply chains. As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, during the next 12 months we will put in place systems to:
- Identify and assess potential risk areas when considering taking on new suppliers and regularly review our existing supply chains
- Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains
- Monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains
- Protect whistle blowers
We will share our Anti-Slavery Policy with our main suppliers so that they are aware of our values and our expectations from those we work with. Should we become aware of any human trafficking/slavery activities within our supply chain or if any are highlighted to us then we will act immediately in accordance with our legal and moral obligations.
Performance indicators
In light of the Swiss ordinance and the UK Modern Slavery Act, Oceyon has committed to:
- Develop a system for supply chain verification which will enable the company to evaluate potential suppliers before they enter the supply chain.
Training
We are in the process of raising awareness of modern slavery issues among all staff and partners and this will include:
- The basic principles of the Swiss Ordinance 2023 and the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015
- How employees can identify and prevent slavery and human trafficking
- The policies we have put in place on Anti-Slavery, including how employees can alert the company about potential slavery or human trafficking issues
